Time keeps ticking!

No truer words have ever been spoken! It always amazes me how quickly time flies by. One minute you remember bringing your baby home from the hospital and the next minute Facebook is popping up with memories from five years ago that you swore happened yesterday.

With each passing day, and each new moment, I am reminded that time keeps on ticking. If you asked me what I have loved most about being in this quarantine with my children, I will hands down tell you it’s the memories we have made, and just getting to know them all over again.

For so long we have been in such a routine and always rushing from one thing to another. These last two weeks we have really gotten the opportunity as a family to slow down and take in every moment. It’s not always perfect, but we aren’t always perfect.

Over the last two weeks I have seen Jack get to play and spend time with Ella and CJ. I have gotten to really sit and watch CJ do work and read. I have snuggled and laughed with Ella, more than I can remember doing in a long time. Usually after being at school she comes home exhausted. Our comm hab worker, Dani, is here with her three nights a week so our quality time is limited. Honestly, I feel so badly about that, but I really need the help when Steve is working. It’s been amazing to be able to get that time with her. She has been so happy and expressive. It makes me heart smile so big.

Today Steve was home and his off days are always the best. Watching him with the kids is one of my favorite things, and so is spending time as a family of five. While our day wasn’t jam packed, it was one full of laughter, and admittedly a few tears.

CJ got to ride his bike and finally decided today that next time he rides, he wants the training wheels to come off. Steve also taught him how to work out. That was fun to watch! He did GREAT! Jack was a moving machine and has really mastered the art of crawling. Some of his favorite things to do are bother the dog, play with the dogs toys, and bang anything he can find on the tile floor, as loud as he can. Steve and CJ also tried out a new hairstyle on Jack. Ella was such a sweet love today. She doesn’t move much but man, she doesn’t miss a thing. She smiles and laughs at everyone around her and makes her presence known when she feels she isn’t getting enough attention. We spent some time cuddling before bed and I got to read her a bedtime story.

I must admit everything wasn’t sunshine and roses today. I also had a minor meltdown when I opened the cabinet that had all the food storage containers in it. They came pouring out and I lost it. I started crying and CJ saw me. He came over, gave me the biggest hug and offered to help me put all of them back. I am chalking that meltdown up to quarantine stress. I had a long weekend with the kids and I just needed a moment. I feel like it could have been anything to set me off. A few tears later I was back in the game.

Tomorrow will be another day and I can’t wait to see what is brings.
