Seriously!

You ever just have one of those days where almost nothing goes right? Whether it’s your fault or not, it’s the makes for a pull your hair out kind of day.

Let’s start with this morning. Jack decides he wants to spend the day with a cranky mommy, and wakes up at 6 am. I let him play in the crib for a bit, and hear Ella making her usual morning noises about 6:15 am. Awesome! I get up to discover that my back is all messed up, and the slightest movements are not pleasant. I somehow find a way to work through that pain and head to the bathroom before I greet my babies. Wellllll folks, after taking care of my number one business, guess what? That’s right. There was no toilet paper in sight. Good times. Luckily I found a baby wipe and was able to use that.

I did manage to get Jack down for a quick nap before breakfast and got to relax myself. By the time Jack woke up CJ was already downstairs starting his day. I sit all three kids down for breakfast to discover we only have TWO of grandma’s super delicious pancakes left. Looks like it’s CJ for the win, although I didn’t think he would be that hungry after the twenty chicken nuggets he ate for dinner last night. I was wrong. Good thing Jack was perfectly content with the oatmeal I gave him.

Ella and I were busy playing on the floor when CJ had a question from the playroom. I went to answer him from the doorway where I could still see Ella and Jack. I am not kidding when I tell you I only had my eye off of the littles for two seconds. When I turned back around Jack was literally sitting on Ella’s face, and without a care in the world I might add. After I yelled “Jack NOOOOOO”, he quickly got off of Ella and cried for the next two minutes. Apparently that was mean, or I yelled too loud and scared him.

The rest of the day progressed swimmingly. Gibbs somehow managed to get something sticky attached to his foot outside, and was running around like he was on fire, for a solid ten minutes. Picture a horse kicking their back leg out over and over, because that’s exactly what was happening. I tried to help him but he wouldn’t let me. Instead I watched.

Jack managed to get in the dogs water and give himself a bath, CJ spilled his Gatorade all over the couch, and just my luck, Ella managed to cough at the exact moment I was putting apple sauce into her mouth. This was all before 2 Pm. I didn’t have much hope for the rest of the day.

At 3 Pm I had a phone conference with a woman I reached out to regarding Ella’s IEP meeting. Someone very close to the district, and someone who provided me with an incredible about of feedback. She listened to every word I had to say and spent an hour on the phone with me. It is clear what Steve and I have to do to get the outcome that we want, which is a new placement for Ella. I have to keep telling myself to remain calm at the meeting. There are so many triggers and I know my self control shall be tested. I am a very passionate person. Others might use a more colorful word. My friend Caralyn calls it self-advocating. That might be my new favorite! To each his/her own.

The rest of the day went well, other than CJ deciding he was going to audition for American Idol and sing as loud as he could in his play room. Oh, there was also that moment CJ was playing with Jack and called my name. I looked over and saw him resting his butt on Jack’s head, while Jack was sitting there hysterically laughing. I thought to myself what a happy brotherly moment they were having until CJ said to me, “look mommy, I just farted on Jack’s head.” No judging.

I will admit, I don’t always run the tightest ship, but today the odds were certainly stacked against me. My kids all made it to bed in one piece, everyone got a shower to wash off any food or farts that may have landed on them, and tomorrow I will be the only one who remembers the chaos of today. We will all start fresh and I am happy to report I didn’t pull any hair out of my head.

Not every day is perfection but we are all happy and healthy and I can’t ask for more than that. I will be opening my doors to anyone who wants to come and spend quality time with three lovable kids and one silly dog! How do twelve hours shifts sound?

I posted some cute pics and videos on my Instagram stories today! Head over and check them out.

  1. Never a full moment! Boys! My brothers also liked to sit on heads and fart…
And as for the IEP, squeeky wheel gets the oil. Watch how fast they move when you say something casually about a lawyer. I also agree it is advocating. Try to stay calm, don’t call names and it will work out. If not call a new IEP meeting every few weeks and you will push their hand or at least annoy the shit out of them legally. ❤️
