Moving things along!

Days Steve has off always feel the craziest! I think it’s because we are not trying to stay quiet and remain confined to downstairs. Steve is up moving around, and so are we. They always seem louder, busier, and more exhausting.

I had my appointment with the blood doctor today. I have to admit I really did find him quite entertaining. I always love a good sense of humor. He looked at my iron numbers, we reviewed some medical history and he told me I was not a candidate for an iron infusion. He said that while my iron storage was low, I was not anemic. I said ok. My doctor was just concerned that with surgery coming up, this would be problematic.

After some friendly banter back and forth, he agreed I needed to get my storage numbers up. If they dipped any lower, they might not do the surgery. With that being said, I am scheduled in two weeks for my infusion. He was very hopeful that this infusion would provide me with more energy, and an overall better feeling in my daily life. I am very much looking forward to those two things happening.

On my way out I ran into the sister-in- law of a close friend. She follows my blog and was telling me how she enjoys reading it every day. She’s the sweetest, and I love hearing people enjoy reading what I am writing. She has a lot going on in her life right now and even with all of that she told me she thinks of us often. It’a having so many people in our corner. Ella needs all the prayers and good vibes she can get.

I stopped at our local Walmart on the way home, and what a shit show that was. There was a man at the door tallying the number of people coming in who clearly was hating life. Inside was sheer chaos. People were running into each other with their carts and the line assembly was very unclear. At one point a woman and her seven kids cut me in line. (That six foot gap confuses people). I kindly told her that I was waiting before her, and she told me to relax. Needless to say, I won’t be back to Walmart for awhile. They still need to work out some crucial COVID operating details. People were on edge. I can’t say I blame them.

Late afternoon Steve’s family came over so we could celebrate his mother and Jack’s first birthday, for the third and final time. Since we didn’t have a party it was important for us to be able to celebrate with our families. His sister came with her soon to be hubby and step kids, and Steve’s parents were here as well (obviously). We had a wonderful night catching up and the kids got along so well. Spending time with family is never a bad thing.

Ella has a good day, and a weird night. I am calling it weird because I am not really sure how else to classify it. For the first time in a long time she was spitting up food. Not just a little either, there was a decent amount. I am not sure if it was related to her water intake or not, but I do know it was gross and messy. She wasn’t swallowing her food either. It would go in her mouth and just sit there until enough saliva had built up for it to come dripping out. This is when I have my most frustrating moments with her. I know she can eat and likes what I am giving her, but for whatever reason she gives up. Normally if she doesn’t want food she just won’t open her mouth. She was half completing the process tonight and I have no idea why.

Tomorrow we are going to see friends who just moved to a lake house they built near us. I am hoping to see some private fireworks displayed, since most of the local celebrations were cancelled. Ella loves fireworks. I don’t think Jack stayed awake long enough to see them last year. Hopefully he does a better job of hanging on this year. I picture CJ and his friend screaming when each firework goes off. I might need to bring my noise cancelling headphones.

With close friends sounds like the perfect way to celebrate the day. I can’t even remember the last time Steve was home to share in the festivities. Looking forward to many hours of sleep tonight and a great day tomorrow.

  1. Hey I’ve had two iron infusions. The new stuff is better. because you only need one. The first time I had to go 5 times and it burned the entire time. Let me know if you have questions or want to commiserate.Glad they finally agreed to pump up your blood. I don’t know why they are so stingy with iron.

  2. You went to Walmart? Oh not a good idea, I hope you were not alone!
Your blog is still a good read. I feel like I’m part of the Zs even tho I’m far away. ❤️
