Keeping me on my toes!

It’s been an interesting twenty four hours here at the Zurlnick house. After a wonderful evening with friends, we got home at almost midnight last night. We don’t typically stay out that late with the kids but Ella and Jack fell asleep at the lake house so we were able to hang out a little longer before heading home.

They were both awake when we got them in the car. When we got home, I laid in bed with Ella for a few minutes and she passed right out. Jack struggled. He cried in the crib for fifteen minutes before I went in to get him. I brought him in bed with us and he was tossing and turning until he finally settled at about 3 am.

Ella didn’t wake up this morning until after 10 am and Jack got up at 6:30 am for his bottle and went back to sleep until 11:30 am. She is usually up by 7 am and Jack 6:30 am with a very quick power nap after his bottle. I try to follow the schedules they have fallen into because naturally it makes the day that much easier. Today they both threw me. I thought multiple times about waking them up this morning but that didn’t seem like such a good idea. Typically when the kids need extra sleep, it’s for a reason so I let them have it. Even those random days CJ takes a nap, I deal with the nightly repercussions. I feel like body knows best.

When Ella woke up she had pooped, which is HUGE. That is her second day in a row. I can’t tell you the last time that happened. I am convinced it’s the digestive enzyme we got doing its job. That, and the combination of prunes we are giving her. I still think she struggles with positioning though. She can only go laying flat, and she has to be relaxed. I am not more certain than ever yesterday’s meltdowns were related to her belly. I am hoping the more of these enzymes she takes, the more calm her digestive tract becomes.

She was in a great mood today. We spent all morning downstairs playing with toys, singing songs, and laughing at Jack and CJ. Mid-afternoon she took a nap to recharge her body and was awake and ready to go just in time for dinner. She and Jack thought it would be funny to steal food off of each other’s trays. Those two are up to no good the second they get near each other. Sibling love at its best.

Jack was a hot mess all day. He was on and off crying most of the morning, and around two climbed up on my lap and felt warm. He passed out minutes later and slept for about an hour. That NEVER happens. I thought for sure he had a temperature, but checked him before and after his nap. Nada. He is naturally warm though, and was cruising around like a maniac all morning. The rest of the day was pretty much the same. We did get outside for a little bit and he was distracted enough to not be so sad. Bedtime was a breeze. I truly think his teeth are bothering him.

Cj had a rough day. He too slept in, and was very angry come lunch time when he realized I didn’t have the pasta that he liked. Apparently curly pasta taste different than penne pasta, and you cannot substitute one for the other. As if his diet wasn’t already limited to three things, now I have to be conscious of the type of pasta I buy? Today was a you getting what you get and you don’t get upset kind of day. After lunch he threw a pillow, hit the mantle, smacked off a hideous Rhino statue Steve insisted we register for when we got married, and cracked the tile in front of the fireplace. In his own defense, he said he was trying to keep Jack entertained. Just when he thought his day couldn’t get much worse, he left his dinner unattended and the dog devoured it.

I promise you all if our life was a reality show we would have zero problems keeping you all entertained. We are certainly not the Kardashians, but our daily shenanigans are ones most people can relate to. There are so many things that could transpire on any given day. It keeps me on my toes.

If you have an Instagram account and aren’t following us already, please do. I am trying to get those numbers up to open some more doors for us. ❤️
