Time flies when you aren’t blogging! It felt weird not coming on every night writing, but I was able to catch up on some sleep and spend more time annoying, I mean loving, CJ before bed. Don’t fret, I was still writing and have stuff in the archives to one day share.
It’s hard to believe but Ella’s summer with Amanda came to an end yesterday. She is headed up to college in the next few days and was taking time to say her goodbyes and finish packing. We are surely going to miss her. She was only here a short time, but it felt like she had been with us forever. Thanks to Dani’s fabulous training, the transition was flawless. The good news is that Amanda will be home from Thanksgiving until sometime in February, and will surely be returning. Dani is officially back from Florida and once her two week quarantine is over, she will be back. I know we will all be glad to see her!
We got the official word that Ella’s school is offering five full days of instruction this school year, and have decided to send her. She does so much better with a routine and desperately needs her therapies. The school seems to have a good plan in place for the return of the students, so we are going to trust the process and hope everything runs smoothly. CJ will be headed to school on Wednesday’s and Friday’s, and will be attending school remotely the other three days. I do have concerns about his bus and may be driving him to and from school. That has yet to be determined. I still have to break that news to him though. The bus seemed to always be his favorite part of the day!
August 6th Steve and I celebrated nine years of marriage. It’s crazy to think back on the last nine years and see how things have changed. The year we got married the school Steve and I were working at closed and we were both unemployed. We spent some of our greatest months together that year. We were doing almost nothing, trying to save money so we could pay our mortgage on unemployment checks. It was a simpler life for sure.
In the coming weeks we have Ella’s at home EEG and are trying to squeeze in all the appointments we missed due to COVID, before school starts back up. Things have been crazy here as always, and soon we will be faced with a new normal and routine. This week Ella also got fitted for a new school stroller. The district agreed to pay for one to transport her on the bus. I got to pick the color and everything. Sassy purple seemed fitting for Ella.
No real update on Boston Children’s Hospital. It appears neurology is still the only department not seeing new patients in person. Apparently they review the cases each week and see how the schedule looks. They have been doing a nice job letting us know they aren’t ready to see Ella yet. Last week they told us we could be waiting until the end of the year. I will prepare for the worst case and hope for the best. If there is one thing I have learned during Ella’s short life regarding most things medically related, it’s that you usually have little control over what happens. You roll with whatever comes your way. We have perfected that.
I hope everyone has been following my Instagram stories. That is where you will find a lot of my daily updates and everyday happenings. Jack has become quite entertaining the last few weeks.
Welcome back, Z5!
You were missed!
Look forward to seeing more of you!
