Keeping busy!

Today was a busy day for us and I am finally getting the chance to sit down and relax. The heat was insane and almost makes you not want to leave your house.

Ella and I went to see the eye doctor this morning. I wanted to order her new glasses online and a measurement was missing from the last time we went. They were so good about squeezing us in. I am happy to report that Ella did great. She kept her mask on almost the ENTIRE time and was laughing our entire visit. Dr. Sauer was the sweetest! He knows just what to say to make Ella laugh, and there is no pressure to do things his way. He was perfectly fine doing what he needed to do from the comfort of the chair I was holding Ella in. I love when visits to the doctor aren’t stressful.

The ride home started out fabulous and sadly took a turn ten minutes in. Ella screamed almost the entire thirty minute ride home. There was not one thing I tried that lessened the volume. She was wiggling the whole time. I am very much thinking that Ella is having some type of GI issue, and my mama instinct is telling me I may need to call the pediatrician this week. I wanted to see how she did the rest of today, and then tomorrow after breakfast, to see if I can find a trigger with timing. Or if she poops again tonight, maybe that was the issue. I will surely be monitoring the situation. I hate seeing her like that. It’s one of the hardest things to watch.

We came home for lunch, picked up Amanda and Jack, and headed out to visit with a high school friend and Miss Patti, Ella’s old aide. I have come to enjoy these visits so much. You can tell that Ella remembers Patti and responds to her immediately. It’s like two old friends hanging out. It’s the cutest thing. My friend has a son around Jack’s age, so watching the two of them play together is adorable. They steal everything from each other and while they are both moving in different directions, when they do cross paths the interaction is the best. I can only imagine what it will be like when the two of them are talking. It’s nice that Jack has found a friend his age to play with.

We stopped to see our new puppy friend Leo on the way home. Ella wasn’t impressed and Jack was doing his best to keep away from those puppy teeth. At one point Leo grabbed his shirt and was pulling him backward. Hulk man Jack was not amused at all. He prefers to be the one pushing people around and showing his strength, not vise versa. I didn’t get any pictures of either child with the pup. A big mom fail there. It looks as though we will just have to go back and visit again soon. Bummer!

The kids ate dinner at Leo’s house and we came home to settle in for the night. Amanda was carrying Ella upstairs and as he usually does, Jack was crawling up them. Halfway up he stopped, looked at Amanda, lifted his arm up and waved. My heart melted. It was adorable. After that show off moment, he continued up the steps to where Amanda was standing, looked at her, and said A da. We won’t tell Dani. She will be super jealous. Shhhhh!

Lots of positive things going on with the littles, as we keep things moving forward. CJ got to spend a ton of time with his bestie today and tomorrow we are meeting up with Steve’s family. The rest of the week looks pretty low key. Apparently we jammed as much as we could into then beginning. I have to make sure I get back to see Leo at some point. That face of his is one you don’t want to stay away from for long.
