A productive day!

Today was one of those days where I accomplished some of those leftover things on my to do list that I have been avoiding, or got pushed back due to conflicts.

CJ has been dying for months to change the rug in his room. A few years back he had an incident with a reptile warming light and LEGO man on his floor. He thought it would be fun to put the LEGO under the light and leave it. Needless to say, we smelled burning, and since that day his LEGO man has remained melted in his rug. We try and turn the rug to avoid it being seen when we can, but it is time to replace it. It goes right over the wood floor. No biggie right?

CJ, being the one human who is living in that room, has a huge bunk bed and multiple other pieces of furniture. It became a nice problem solving activity for us this afternoon to try and figure out how to unroll the rug and get it under the bed. Thank goodness my husband has super human strength. I had to muster all I could to help. We were successful and the new rug looks amazing.

I took the opportunity while I was in his room to purge some of his stuff. He’s a hoarder, and has so many toys he doesn’t even touch anymore. We threw some away, gave some to Jack, and will be donating the rest. I even got to finally set up his reading corner and hang his bookshelves. So many things checked off my list today. Apparently he also likes to tape coins to anything and everything. He had a great time untaping them all today.

I was finally able to make contact with the EEG technician and set up Ella’s at home testing for the end of August, provided that we don’t have any conflicts with Boston Children’s that day. I also called and cancelled her upcoming hearing test because it has been added to the Boston itinerary.

Good news came from the district today as well. We got confirmation that they will be purchasing an adaptive stroller for Ella to be using for transport on the bus, and in school as needed. Steve and I felt based on the incorrect way her stroller was used this year, that she would be much safer in a different one. She is still small enough to use the adaptive stroller rather than a wheelchair, which is a blessing in many ways. It provides her with much better support and is way more comfortable. This stroller issue has been giving me anxiety all year so I am glad we were finally able to work it out.

My to do list is still multiple pages long, but today I was happy to get so much done. Jack is still teething, so it’s early to bed for all in case he wakes up in the middle of the night. Those surprise visits never end well for me.

There are some cute pictures from today in my stories, and I will try and get some pictures of his room!

  1. Taping coins? Hmmm, very interesting!
Sounds like you accomplished a lot, most important is the stroller. The room upgrade made CJ happy I’m sure! And jack gets more toys.
    A good day all around!!!
